CHICAGO IN BLOOM

This workshop aims to cultivate a sense of pride in Chicago's rich artistic heritage and encourage residents to become actively involved in the progress and development of their community. Through the study of local art and art history, students will draw inspiration and gain a deeper understanding of the city's cultural identity.
The session will begin with compositional sketching, allowing students to explore and experiment with different design elements. From there, students will move on to a more detailed drawing phase, focusing on correct proportions and fine-tuning their compositions. Finally, students will delve into paint technique, honing their skills as they strive to capture the unique qualities of their chosen subjects.
Throughout the lesson, students will work with pencil and acrylic paint on canvas to create their own original artwork. Whether they are experienced artists or new to the medium, all students will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expand their knowledge of art history and technique.

Welcome to our art and social justice workshop! In this lesson, we will explore the ways in which art can be used as a tool for communication, raising awareness about social issues and inspiring positive change.
Throughout the workshop, students will be introduced to a diverse range of artists who create work that intersects with political activism and social justice causes. You will have the opportunity to learn about the unique perspectives and experiences of these artists, and how they use their art to inspire dialogue and promote change.
In addition to learning about these artists and their work, students will also have the opportunity to create their own art projects with a social, public, or political purpose. All art supplies will be provided, so you can focus on exploring your creativity and developing your own unique voice as an artist.
Whether you are an experienced artist or new to the medium, this workshop is suitable for all levels of experience and is designed to be both educational and enjoyable. We look forward to exploring the intersection of art and social justice with you!
